For years scientists have studied how to test the quality of a watermelon without cutting into it.  These studies were looking at industrial level testing for watermelon growers and wholesale buyers.   The results also work on a more personal level.   YOUR level.   The PickaMelon owner and development engineers reviewed these studies, distilled them into some final tools that could be used at the personal level, and built the science into the PickaMelon app.  The app uses your smartphone microphone to pick up the sound of the echo of your thumping, then uses a proprietary algorithm to determine the quality of the watermelon.  We went through a ton of watermelons during testing, and our people found that PickaMelon is accurate about 80% of the time.  And yes, they got pretty tired of eating them!
